The Video Software Dealers Assn.'s (VSDA) arm for independents, iGroup, has been rechristened the Independent Dealers of Entertainment Assn. (IDEA).

IDEA has been trying to attract independent retail membership at the VSDA's Home Entertainment convention in Las Vegas, which began July 14 and ends today (July 16). The group may be offering a one-year trial membership to interested retailers. Additionally, IDEA may implement an incentive program, called "IDeals," that would offer members supplier coupons toward the purchase of video product.

Independent retail membership within VSDA is currently at 600 companies, representing a 50% decline over the last two years.
