Sony BMG Int'l To Report To Smellie

Post-merger decisions being implemented.

With the integration of the Sony BMG Music Entertainment joint venture underway, some decisions are starting to leak from the company. In the wake of the expected departures of Sony Music International chairman Bob Bowlin and president Rick Dobbis, the various territories and regions are expected to report directly to Michael Smellie, who has been named chief operating officer in the new company.

Also, with BMG VP of corporate communications worldwide Patrick Reilly leaving the company, Sony senior VP of communications Keith Estabrook is expected to get the nod in that area. Meanwhile, Ira Sallen, BMG's senior VP of human resources, has been named to head up that department, which will result in the departure of Sony's VP of global human resources Barry Ilberman.

Contrary to speculation, Sony Music's executive VP Michele Anthony is expected to play an important role in the joint venture, sources say.
