FCC Fines Infinity Over Aired Phone Call

The FCC has imposed a forfeiture of $4,000 on Infinity Radio Operations.

NEW YORK -- The FCC has imposed a forfeiture of $4,000 on Infinity Radio Operations. The Aug. 11 order indicates that Infinity station WBLK(FM) in Buffalo, N.Y., broadcast a telephone conversation in 2002 between DJ Shae Moore and an Adelphia Communications customer-service representative without informing the rep of the station's intent to broadcast the conversation.

The commission's rules require any radio station that intends to broadcast a telephone conversation to inform the parties of its intent before recording the call or before a live broadcast of the conversation.

An Infinity representative declined to comment.
