Universal Music International (UMI) today confirmed Vico Antippas' elevation to the new role as senior VP, UMI, Central & Eastern Europe, with effect from September 1. His promotion was tipped here in April. Antippas, who is currently Universal Music Germany's president/COO, will relocate from Berlin to Zurich.
In his new post, Antippas will oversee UMI's operating companies in Austria, Switzerland, Turkey, Greece, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia, and will be tasked with licensee activities in the region, including Israel. In a related move, he has been appointed to UMI's executive committee, a strategy-setting body which meets at regular intervals.
"I have known, and worked with, Vico for many years and appreciated his countless contributions to the success of our businesses in Greece, Switzerland and Austria, and, more recently, his management of Universal Music Germany during a difficult and sensitive phase," comments UMI chairman/CEO Jorgen Larsen, to whom he reports. "I am confident that he will be able to make good use of his experience in developing our business further in this potentially high-growth region," Larsen adds.
Since joined the company in 1983, Antippas has headed UMI company operations in Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
