Toby Keith Plans Vegas Venue

Three Harrah's partnerships in works.

Harrah’s Las Vegas Casino & Hotel is planning a themed bar, restaurant and entertainment venue with country singer Toby Keith. It is first of three U.S. venues being developed in partnership with the country star.

The new facility, on the Strip in Las Vegas, will be called Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar, named for the popular song by the DreamWorks artist. The $9 million project is slated for a summer 2005 opening.

The restaurant will offer American casual food, and the bar/lounge will feature Keith music and videos, a recording studio, private dining area, stage and dance floor for live country acts, and personal appearances by Keith.

“There will be an item on the menu called ‘the American Soldier,’ and any active military person that orders it can get that meal for free,” says T.K. Kimbrell, Keith’s manager at TKO Entertainment.

The structure, which will encompass more than 17,000 square feet, will be located at the interior promenade situated directly adjacent to the resort’s monorail concourse. Plans call for groundbreaking in the fourth quarter of this year.

“We saw all the plans and it completely blew us away,” Kimbrell tells “There’s an American flag retractable roof over the dance floor. It has a small stadium feel to it.”

In addition to the Las Vegas facility, Harrah’s is planning similar concepts for Keith at its operations in North Kansas City, Mo., and at Louisiana Downs in the Shreveport/Bossier City market. Keith is a partner in all three projects.

Keith is booked by Curt Motley at Monterey Peninsula Artists. He will be on the road with his Throwdown tour until Thanksgiving, then will pick back up again in early 2005.
