Cardwell Forms New Event/Talent Firm

Former MAD chief forms MAC Presents.

Nashville-based promoter/producer Marcie Allen Cardwell has formed MAC Presents, an independent talent buyer and event sponsorship firm, has learned.

Cardwell resigned as president of live-event producer MAD Booking & Events, the Nashville-based company she founded five years ago, earlier this month (, Aug. 9). Laura Valente, formerly VP in MAD's Atlanta office, was upped to president.

Cardwell tells that while she was presented with opportunities to join other companies following her resignation from MAD, she opted to go the independent route. She says she has no non-compete clause with MAD Booking & Events.

“I interviewed with several different companies, but I had so many clients that I decided to go forward with MAC Presents,” she says. “I want to keep it small and give my clients the attention they want.”

Cardwell founded MAD Booking (which stands for Marcie Allen Does Booking) in May 1999. The company now produces such weekly summer concert series as Bridgestone Dancin' in the District in Nashville, Aquafina on the Bricks in Atlanta and McDonald’s Sessions at Merriwether in the Washington, D.C., market. MAD also produced this year's Virgin College Megatour, a national tour headlined by Michelle Branch.

Cardwell says MAC Presents will focus on college booking, tour sponsorships and talent buying for festivals and special events. She will work out of her home.
