Cárdenas Takes Over CMN

Veteran promoter assumes CEO post.

Event promoter Henry Cárdenas, who recently acquired a majority interest in Consultants Marketing Network, has been named CEO of the events production company, which is based in Miami and has offices in Chicago. The firm's name will be changed to Cárdenas Marketing Network, using the same acronym, CMN.

Jorge Naranjo, founder of CMN, will stay on as president. Cárdenas' other company, Cárdenas Management Services, will continue to operate from Chicago.

Cárdenas founded event and concert promotion company Cárdenas, Fernández & Associates, often billed as the largest Hispanic-owned concert promotion firm in the country. CFA was acquired by Clear Channel and Grupo Televisa, and Cárdenas continued to run the company until 2002. Since then, he has been barred from working in concert promotion because of a non-compete agreement that was to be in effect until April 2005; however, a settlement reached Feb. 17 put an end to that clause.

Although CMN will continue to promote concerts, Cárdenas says, the company’s focus will be event marketing and promotion.
