MTV Networks International (MTVNI) has appointed Jesus Lara to the new post as VP, music marketing and talent/artist relations.
Based in New York, Lara is tasked with overseeing strategy to drive MTV's global music presence via partnerships with record labels and MTV's regional channels.
In his new role, Lara reports to Harriett Brand, MTVNI's London-based senior VP, talent and music.
He joins the music TV network from EMI Music Latin America, where he was Miami-based VP of A&R and marketing.
At EMI, Lara helped develop the careers of regional artists such as Thalia, Carlos Vives, Aleks Syntek and Cabas. He is also credited with helping break in the Latin market such international artists as Britney Spears, Coldplay, Norah Jones and Tiziano Ferro.
