Staff at Sony Music Entertainment Australia and BMG Australia have been notified that 43 jobs, or about 25% of the workforce, will be lost to the companies' merger. Most of those outgoing staff will stay on until mid-January.
Among those exiting are Sony marketing directors Tim Kelly and Jonathan Williams, and BMG's head of finance Tony Smith; Kelly resigned before the recent announcement.
As previously reported, Sony BMG Entertainment Australia will be helmed by chairman/CEO Denis Handlin. Ed St. John, managing director of BMG Australia, will exit during the next few weeks.
Handlin appointed his executive team in early October.
