Warner Names Lawyer For Incubators

Warner Music Group will announce today (Jan. 13) the appointment of Mark Robinson as lead attorney for its new incubator system, which encompasses hip-hop label Asylum and a rock label yet to be named.

Under this system, the incubator labels will typically enter deals with indie labels or entrepreneurs to develop artists and provide music.

As WMG's associate counsel, Robinson will oversee distribution, licensing and new media agreements, reporting to Dave Johnson, WMG's executive VP/general counsel.

Robinson leaves Koch Entertainment, where he was senior VP, business and legal affairs, since 1999. Prior to that he served as director of business and legal affairs for Velvel Music Group, the label run by industry veteran Walter Yetnikoff.
