Japan's Yamaha Corp. has launched a series of new multi-media mobile-phone content services in China.

The Music Animation content service uses Yamaha's Synthetic music Mobile Application Format format, which allows synchronization of sound, images and text; karaoke content, greeting-card services and story-based content such as literature, movies, and comics are among the key new features.

The services are being provided through co-operation with China United Telecommunications -- a major Chinese mobile phone carrier with some 110 million subscribers -- and Chinese Internet service provider Allink.

Yamaha, which already markets ringtones in China through China United Telecommunications, is planning a promotional campaign for the Karaoke King service in 19 Chinese provinces.
