CCE, PBS Team For Live Shows

Live events co. will get first right of refusal.

Clear Channel Entertainment has teamed with PBS for potential live show productions, has learned. The deal will offer CCE first right of refusal to mount live tours based on shows produced by PBS stations' pledge drives.

The first tour under this new agreement is "Celtic Woman," a concert that PBS will air as part of its March pledge drive. The "Celtic Woman" show, filmed in Dublin last September, features Celtic-music soloists such as Chloe Agnew, Orlagh Fallon and Lisa Kelly. CCE will present about 20 "Celtic Woman" concerts in July and August at large theaters and amphitheatres.

As part of the deal, Clear Channel Entertainment Television, the TV-production division of CCE, is also expected to produce original fundraising shows for PBS. The live events will allow local PBS TV stations to partner with CCE to promote the telecasts and live shows as fundraising events for PBS.

CCE executive VP of creative development Jonathan Hochwald will oversee the touring opportunities that result from the new partnership. He commented in a statement, "We are thrilled to partner with PBS to create new and compelling live experiences that extend the PBS connection from television to stage."
