MTV Networks Asia is planning the launch of four 24-hour channels in Malaysia. The new channels -- MTV Mandarin, MTV India, MTV Indonesia and VH1 -- will be carried on MiTV, which will be Malaysia's second pay TV operator upon its soft-launch in May.

MTV Southeast Asia is currently available on ASTRO, the country's first pay-TV operator.

"MTV continues to be the premium choice for music in Asia, and we're excited with the prospect of expanding our reach to a much wider audience with these localized channels," says MTV Networks Asia president Frank Brown.

The new channels are aimed at 15- to 34-year-olds, with an even mix of international and local programming (in Mandarin, Indonesian and various Indian languages). VH1 makes its debut in Malaysia as a full-fledged channel following teaser segments showcased on ASTRO's MTV channel.
