LOS ANGELES -- The Motion Picture Assn. of America has introduced an icon for DVD packages as part of its fight against piracy.

Called the "copy protection awareness" icon, the art was created for voluntary use on DVD packages. It is meant to remind consumers that DVDs are protected by copyright technology.

MPAA member companies will start using the icon this month. International releases will include it later in the year.
