Kipley Takes Home SESAC Songwriter Award

Producer honored for second year in a row.

Producer/songwriter Pete Kipley was named SESAC's 2004 Christian Songwriter of the Year for the second consecutive year during an awards dinner held last night (Feb. 7) at Nashville's Boundry Restaurant.

Kipley produces the hit act MercyMe, who scored hits like "I Can Only Imagine," "Here With Me" and "Word of God Speak." He also recently launched a new label, Simple Records, with MercyMe's Bart Millard.

Kipley's publishing company, Songs from the Indigo Room, tied for publisher of the year honors with Wordspring Music, a division of Word Music Publishing. Also during the evening, SESAC honored writers Jamie Slocum, Brian White, Steve Taylor, and Daily Planet frontman Jesse Butterworth.
