Warner Rock Incubator Takes Shape

Unit dubbed East/West; initial slate planned.

Warner Bros. has solidified a release list for its rock incubator and given the division a name.

The department is called East/West. Its first release, due Feb. 22, will be an album by One Eleven Records rock newcomers This Day & Age.

Fronted by Fred Feldman, head of Triple Crown Records, East/West has also signed deals to distribute Volcom Entertainment, the label offshoot of the popular surf/skate company; We Put Out Records, a new imprint run by hard-rock management and marketing firm the Syndicate; and Broken English, a recently formed label run by Nada Recording Studio owner John Naclerio.

Labels affiliated with East/West will be distributed by Warner's Alternative Distribution Alliance.

Also on tap from East/West is a live DVD from Volcom act Pepper, due March 8; the unit will issue 13 releases through July.
