WMG Picks Up American

Rick Rubin is moving his American Recordings label to Warner Music Group, chairman/CEO Edgar Bronfman, Jr. announced on Feb. 11.

NEW YORK -- Rick Rubin is moving his American Recordings label to Warner Music Group, chairman/CEO Edgar Bronfman, Jr. announced on Feb. 11.

The label, which is currently distributed by Universal Music Group's Island Def Jam, will be housed under the Warner Bros. Records umbrella.

American -- home to Johnny Cash, Noise Ratchet and Palo Alto -- has been with UMG since 2002. The label was previously distributed through Sony.
