Worldwide deal includes more than 2,000 copyrights.
Sony/ATV Music Publishing Nashville has signed a deal to handle worldwide administration of the catalog of new company KMG Entertainment.
KMG is the venture started by veteran Nashville music publisher, producer and songwriter Buddy Killen and artist manager/producer Christy Di Napoli. The multifaceted company will specialize in publishing, management, artist development and production. Its catalog contains more than 2,000 copyrights, including the entire Little Texas catalog and hits for Kenny Chesney, Lonestar, Trace Adkins, Faith Hill, Reba McEntire, Natalie Cole, Hall & Oates and Patty Loveless.
KMG's writer roster includes R&B/pop tunesmith Kevin Kendrick, who penned three songs on the OutKast album "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below." Also on the roster are Sony artist Jon Stone and Rushlow's David Lewis and Tim Rushlow.
Killen became part owner of Tree Publishing in 1954, was named president in 1974 and purchased the company outright in 1980. He left Tree in 1990, a year after it was purchased by CBS/Sony. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions, Tree has evolved into the powerhouse Sony/ATV publishing operation.
Di Napoli served as manager, co-producer and publisher for Little Texas in the 1990s. He most recently ran his own management, production and publishing company before merging his interests with Killen's.
KMG, located on Music Row, includes a fully equipped recording studio.
