U2 To Reveal Fall N.A. Tour Dates

Vertigo on track to gross $300M.

U2 will announce the fall North American leg of its Vertigo tour today (March 7). The tour will include about 40 dates, beginning Sept. 12 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto and wrapping Dec. 19 at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Ore.

Tickets for the new North American leg go on sale this coming weekend; a U2.com pre-sale will again be offered to fan club members. "Hopefully all the [pre-sale] issues will have been worked out," Arthur Fogel, president of TNA International, the tour's worldwide producer, tells Billboard.biz. "It helps to have more than one show in New York."

Indeed, U2 will go up with three New York shows on the second run; route "padding" there and in several other markets will allow for more shows to be added as dates sell out. Among the other markets U2 will be revisiting are Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Vertigo will also play Atlanta, Montreal, Washington, D.C., and dates in Florida and Texas.

The first North American leg of the Vertigo tour begins March 28 in San Diego and wraps May 28 in Boston. Euroepan dates run June 10-Aug. 11.

Before playing a note, U2 has grossed about $185 million from 2.2 million tickets. By the time Vertigo concludes, it will be one of the top-grossing treks of all time, approaching $300 million.
