U2 Fall Tickets Go Flying

Dates added in multiple cities.

As expected, tickets for the fall leg of U2's Vertigo tour in North America sold out quickly, resulting in the addition of dates in many markets. Twelve cities went on sale Saturday, bringing in 23 sold-out performances.

This morning in New York, tickets quickly sold for shows Oct. 7, 8 and 10 at Madison Square Garden. Concerts were added for Oct. 11 and 14; those also immediately sold out. As a result, a final two performances -- Nov. 21-22 -- have been confirmed; tickets go on sale March 21.

On Saturday in Chicago, where fans had already purchased 76,000 tickets for sellouts on May 7, 9, 10 and 12, shows were added for Sept. 20-21 and sold out immediately.

Likewise in Boston -- where U2 previously sold out shows for May 24, 26 and 28 -- dates were added for Oct. 3-4 and sold out in 10 minutes. A return engagement Dec. 4-5 has also gone clean.

Other cities that added dates are Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Detroit and Los Angeles. Concerts in Tampa, Fla.; Houston; Portland, Ore.; and Dallas were quick sellouts.

The 13 remaining fall Vertigo shows go on sale this weekend. The tour begins March 28 in San Diego.

As previously reported, U2 will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight (March 14) in New York.
