Robert Plant has signed to a worldwide deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

The pact applies to Plant's new album "Mighty Rearranger," due May 2 in Europe; it streets May 10 in North America. Recorded with the band Strange Sensation, the full-length marks his first release with London-based indie Sanctuary Music Group.

"With his illustrious history both as a solo artist and in the context of Led Zeppelin, there's a massive hunger there for a new recording," Merck Mercuriadis, worldwide CEO for the Sanctuary Group, recently told

"When I heard his new material, I was blown away and that, more than his legacy, was my main motivation for wanting to work with him," comments Sony/ATV Music Publishing (U.K.) managing director Charlie Pinder. "His new album is utterly amazing, and is, in my opinion, his best for a very long time."

Plant was the keynote speaker at the recent SXSW conference in Austin, Texas. Last Thursday (March 17) he was on hand to receive his lifetime achievement Grammy Award, having been unable to attend February's Grammy ceremonies in Los Angeles.
