Los Fabulosos Cadillacs To Tour U.S. In April

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs will kick off their initial leg of U.S. tour dates April 3 at Chicago's Congress Theater, followed by an April 5 show at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, Miami's American Airlines Arena April 8 and Los Angeles' Gibson Amphitheatre April 10. The shows will follow the March 10 U.S. release of the Argentine group's first studio album in 10 years, "La Luz del Ritmo," on independent label Nacional Records. The album, a combination of new material and new versions of old songs, was released in Latin America in the fall on Sony BMG.

Nacional president Tomas Cookman, who co-manages the Argentine group with Anibal Rigozzi, negotiated for his label to pick up the album's stateside release from the major based on "our understanding of this particular artist and its successful touring and merch history in the U.S. and Puerto Rico," as well as the indie's track record in working with alternative and new media.

"The first two shows of this return tour (back in November) sold over 100,000 tickets in Mexico City, which will surely help us on the West Coast," adds Cookman. "We will also be exploring ways to use the merch stand at the show in packaging shirts and CDs together."

The Cadillacs' upcoming dates are the group's first U.S. performances since 2002.
