Apollo Theater Plans For 75th Anniversary

A special edition of Amateur Night hosted by Kiss FM's Talent will be in full swing tomorrow (Jan. 28) to help commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Apollo Theater. The night will also feature a performance from Harlem-born rapper/producer Ron Browz.

The legendary venue is also unveiling new initiatives, with the launch of the Salon Series, where artists and audiences can connect; an artistic-driven project slated for the fall of 2010; partnerships with Carnegie Hall, the Smithsonian, Chase bank; and the national tour of Dreamgirls the musical, among others.

The festivities and new projects were announced at a press conference held today (Jan. 27), by the Apollo Theater's chairman of the board, Richard D. Parsons, and Jonelle Procope, president and CEO.
