Is Taylor Swift about to be named Time's Person of the Year?

Monday morning (Dec. 8), Time magazine editor Nancy Gibbs went on the Today show to reveal the shortlist of people currently being considered for Time's 2014 Person of the Year title.

The nominees? In addition to Swift, it's Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc.; Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL; Russian President Vladimir Putin; the Ebola caregivers; the Ferguson protestors; President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani; and Jack Ma, the founder of the Alibaba Group.  The 2013 winner was Pope Francis.

It's extremely unlikely Swift will be named Time's official Person of the Year, but she's likely honored to even be mentioned in the same group as some serious 2014 newsmakers.
