The 2014 CMA Awards opened with country queen Miranda Lambert and pop starlet Meghan Trainor performing the latter's Billboard Hot 100 chart topper "All About That Bass."

Wearing a couple of '50s-styled skirts, Lambert and Trainor (rocking a Nasty Gal jacket) duetted on a countrified version of "All About That Bass." Well, it wasn't the most country-ish reimagining, but it added just enough fiddle and guitar twang to make it CMA Award appropriate. It seemed to go over well with one audience member, at least: Lambert's husband Blake Shelton was grinning ear to ear.

After the performance, host Brad Paisley ambushed Trainor while she was seated in the audience and tried to woo her to switch to country music, informing her she'd just have to change her signature tune to "All About That Bass" (pronounced like the fish). He also gifted her with a fresh pair of jean cut-offs for good measure. Sweet guy!

Trainor wasn't the only pop star crossing over at the CMAs this year. Ariana Grande joined Little Big Town for a TRON-esque version of "Bang Bang."
