Actor Frank Grillo (Warrior, The Purge: Anarchy) has a new drama about mixed martial arts, Kingdom, airing on DirecTV. His costar, 22-year-old Nick Jonas, wasn't exactly welcome initially. "People are very surprised because there's a Jonas Brother in it and he fights," Jimmy Kimmel told Grillo on Monday night.

"I said, 'I have a lot at stake here, and there's just no way Nick Jonas is ever -- he's not doing it, forget it, don't even send him in,'" Grillo recalled. Jonas made it into the audition, though, and got called last, after about 30 other actors. "I looked at the producer," Grillo said, "And I said, 'Oh. He's the guy. That's the guy.'"

Grillo went on to say people's chances of beating up the youngster JoBro are slim, and that Nick's years in a popular band primed him for acting. "He's been famous, and he's been doing this since he was eight. He's so nuanced." Then Grillo launched into a little jokey routine about Nick hating his brothers:

Kingdom launched its 10-episode debut season on Oct. 8. The fourth installment will air this Wednesday, Oct. 29.
