Perry has sold over 72 million digital singles to date

Yesterday (June 25), Katy Perry was presented with yet another award in her record-setting three-album career. The Recording Industry Association of America named Perry its highest-selling digital act in the history of Gold and Platinum awards in a ceremony at Washington, D.C.'s Verizon Center.

Perry currently boasts 72 million digital singles to her name, counting downloads and on-demand streams. She is the first artist to surpass 70 million and is currently 20 million ahead of any other artist. Her catalog contains 18 Gold, 16 Platinum and 56 multi-Platinum digital single awards.

Her 2008 album "One of the Boys" was certified Platinum and her 2010 follow-up "Teenage Dream" has been certified double-Platinum.

"Katy Perry is a force to be reckoned with in music,” RIAA Chairman & CEO Cary Sherman said. "She embodies all that makes a true global superstar: the musical talent, the extraordinary drive and genuine charisma, and an intrinsic connection with her fans."

Perry is currently touring the world behind her 2013 album "Prism." Next up, the tour hits Nashville's Bridgestone Arena tomorrow, June 27.
