"It is so gratifying to still be making music as a group, 36 years after our beginnings as a rag-tag, know-nothing Hollywood punk rock band!” said the group in a statement. “To now be represented by such an energetic and forward-thinking company as Primary Wave is both an honor and a blessing. We look forward to a creative and fruitful relationship with Primary Wave and would like to thank all of our fans for their continued support."
Primary Wave Music manager Deb Klein said: “The Go-Go’s are the foundation of early '80s rock music and continue to be a historic example and role model for female artists today. It is a true honor to be working with such a legendary and talented group.”
The Go-Go’s will join a talent management roster that currently includes artists such as Cee Lo Green, Melissa Etheridge, Eric Benet, Deborah Cox and Ginuwine, as well as writers/producers Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers), and Ali Tamposi (Kelly Clarkson), among others.
Primary Wave's music publishing business was acquired by BMG Rights Management in September 2013 for $150 million.
