Kylie Minogue Bows At No. 1 in Australia As ‘The Voice U.K.’ Rumors Rumble On
Since January 2013, Australian acts have spent 34 weeks in the No. 1 spot across the ARIA Singles and Albums charts. Over this same period, 82 singles from domestic artists were awarded gold, platinum or multi-platinum status, while 66 individual Australian albums were accredited.
“A key feature of ARIA’s activities has always been to champion the development and success of recording artists," comments ARIA chairman Denis Handlin in a statement. "The ARIA #1 Chart Awards not only reflect the sales and chart successes achieved but also the great passion of fans right across the country for music.”

The ARIA Charts celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2013. The trade body published its first survey — then the Countdown Chart — on July 10, 1983. Bonnie Tyler’s "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" topped the first singles chart and Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" was the first No. 1 on the albums chart.
