The live music industry continues to grow in Canada on an annual basis, according to data collected and analyzed by the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN).
"We analyzed revenues generated from live music performances, and we're pleased to report that our members are continuing to gain more than ever from concerts," said SOCAN’s Jennifer Brown, vice president, licensing, in a statement containing the findings. "We’ve seen year-over-year growth in 2012 of 14 percent in concert revenue, helped by major artists playing the Canadian circuit."
SOCAN has more than 110,000 Canadian members and represents the Canadian performing rights of more than 3 million international music creators and publishers.
