Jay-Z Headlining, Curating Live Nation's 'Budweiser Made In America' Music Fest in Philly

Jay-Z and Budweiser are expected to announce Monday their partnership to bring a two-day music festival, "Budweiser Made In America," to Philadelphia over Labor Day Weekend. Jay-Z will headline as well as curate the lineup for the event, which is produced by Live Nation. A portion of all proceeds will benefit United Way, a charity Jay-Z previously partnered with for his pair of historic concerts at Carnegie Hall earlier this year.

Philly's Ben Franklin Parkway in Fairmount Park has been named as the venue for "Budweiser Made In America," which will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2. Nearly 30 acts will perform at the festival, spanning rock, hip-hop, R&B, Latin and dance genres. The full roster will be announced separately on May 21. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 23 at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com. Budweiser Facebook fans will have access to pre-sale tickets beginning Tuesday, May 22 via www.facebook.com/Budweiser. The event is also expected to be viewable by live-stream, with details forthcoming.

"This Labor Day, we will not only make history but we're benefitting a great organization," Jay-Z said in a statement. "'Budweiser Made In America' will encompass every genre of music, creating and showcasing the only genre that matters - 'great music.'"

Budweiser is also hosting a cross-country summer music event series, to be promoted via Facebook and geared toward local bands and artists. That same local emphasis extends to 'Made In America,' which will benefit United Ways in Greater Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey, Lancaster County, PA and New York City with a focus on education and community development.

"Philadelphia is delighted to host visitors from around the country for a national music festival, which will also partner with United Ways that provide services to young people every day," said Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter, who also appeared at Monday's press conference. "Jay-Z and Budweiser chose Philadelphia to host this national event in the birthplace of America. We are excited to invite the musicians, sponsors, guests and festival goers for a memorable weekend."

Jay-Z's Rocawear Recently Laid Off Half Its Staff

The Labor Day festival will kick off just weeks before the official opening of Brooklyn's new Nets Arena, where Jay-Z is a partner. As Billboard reported earlier this month, Jay-Z's custom-designed logo helped ignite sales of merchandise and break traffic records to NBA properties.

This isn't Jay-Z's first time collaborating with Anheuser-Busch. In 2006, he was named creative director for the company's then-fledgling Budweiser Select brand. Despite his early support, the beer has steadily declined in sales and was named one of 24-7 Wall Street's "8 Beers Americans No Longer Drink" last fall.
