Music video network Vevo announced Tuesday that it has launched in Brazil with localized content and global hits from the catalogs of Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Music and other partner labels. The site will be localized in Portuguese across the platform.
Vevo arrives in a country filled with mobile-device-toting music lovers. According to Anatel, Brazil's national telecommunications agency, Brazil had 58.8 million mobile broadband connections in June on a population of 197 million. The country is increasingly adopting the tablet, too. IDC estimates 370,000 tablets - most with the Android operating system - were sold in Brazil in the first quarter of 2012 and expects another 2.1 million will be purchased by the end of the year.
