Alternative Distribution Alliance has picked up some new distribution clients and hired a new senior executive.
The company is on an upswing after seeing its U.S. album plus track-equivalent market share drop from 4.43% at the end of 2010 to 4.09% at the end of 2011, to 3.54% in the middle of this year. In the third quarter the company's market share grew to 4.62%, to produce a year-to-date market share of 3.88%.
In other moves, the merger of ADA and the Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group into one company has allowed it to offer a range of deals, which helped the company to sign two acts in separate deals. For the hip-hop duo of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, ADA are supplying distribution and synch licensing services; and for Blue Sky Riders-comprised of Kenny Loggins, Georgia Middleman, and Gary Burr-it will distribute its forthcoming album, "Finally Home," set for release on Jan. 22, 2013. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis debut at No. 2 for the Billboard 200 this week, scanning 78,000 units, to give ADA 10 albums on that chart this week and a weekly market share of 5.7%.
