The BBC Radio 1 Stay Home Live Lounge brought together (virtually) some of the music world's biggest superstars to perform a heartwarming cover of Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These” to raise money for those in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
The Foo Fighters themselves were included in the uplifting performance, joined in the comfort of their own homes by 5 Seconds of Summer, AJ Tracey, Anne-Marie, Bastille, Biffy Clyro, Celeste, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Dermot Kennedy, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding, Grace Carter, Hailee Steinfeld, Jess Glynne, Mabel, Paloma Faith, Rag’n’Bone Man, Rita Ora, Royal Blood, Sam Fender, Sean Paul, Sigrid, YUNGBLUD and Zara Larsson.
"It's times like these you learn to live again / It's times like these you give and give again / It's times like these you learn to love again / It's times like these time and time again," they sing in the chorus, which feels timely during the ongoing pandemic.
The Ivor Novello and Fraser T. Smith-produced performance was broadcast across Radio 1, Radio 2, 1Xtra, 6Music and Asian Network,as well as on demand on BBC Sounds on Thursday (April 23). UK net profits from the single will be combined with any funds raised by The Big Night In. These funds will be split equally between BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief to provide support for those impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
