It's time to blast "Psycho Killer," because it looks like Talking Heads have finally joined social media. On Monday (Dec. 9), what appears to be an official Instagram account for the band cropped up on the popular photo-sharing platform.
The account has yet to share a single post or be authenticated by Instagram's coveted blue check mark, but the band's new handle, @talkingheadsofficial, has already garnered more than 10,000 followers in just two days, including former keys player Jerry Harrison.
And while frontman David Byrne has been famously reticent in the past about getting the band back together, the cryptic social media launch is already sparking rumors online that a long-awaited reunion is in the works for the '80s rock icons -- despite the fact that the Heads have yet to post anything on the account. "Talking Heads Summer Tour 2020 sounds so good," one fan tweeted after the Instagram account was created, while another predicted, "Unconditionally it's happening, it's everything we hope it will be, and it's going to rule."
Interestingly, 2020 will mark the 40th anniversary of Talking Heads' critically-acclaimed fourth album, Remain in the Light, which Harrison already announced he'll be celebrating by playing a series of special shows with Adrian Belew and funk band Turkuaz. Billboard has reached out to Talking Heads for comment.
