Taylor Swift gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of her latest holiday single "Christmas Tree Farm" on Monday (Dec. 23).
In the video, the superstar captures the process of writing and recording the song after inspiration for its title struck on the first day of December. "So the idea I have for the song is 'Christmas Tree Farm' 'cause I grew up on one; do you see what I mean?" she tells the camera while seated at the piano in a red-and-white polka-dotted shirt.
"So it would go -- these are chords I don't usually use so bear with me -- but it would be like, it's about how, like, you're in the city and you're stressed out and your life is feeling really low but in your heart is a Christmas tree farm!"
Swift also shows off the session laying down her vocals with producer Jimmy Napes (as the pair figure out the "luxurious" chords for song's swooning intro), as well as the 10-piece gospel choir recording their background harmonies.
After a whirlwind few days, the pop star announces she's ready to release the track to the unsuspecting world just in time for the holiday season. "Hi. We're done with the song," she tells the camera excitedly. "It's done now. We're gonna put it out. We hope you like our Christmas song. Merry Christmas!"
