The new generation of urban singers in Puerto Rico continues to grow. Singers like Ozuna, Daddy Yankee and Nicky Jam have opened the doors to new talents of the island. And who has seized the opportunity? This week's Billboard Latin Artist On the Rise, Rauw Alejandro.

Born Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz in Carolina, PR, the hometown of reggaeton, the singer's musical style is inspired by Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Chris Brown, as well as Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel and Ozuna.

What makes Rauw Alejandro different from other urban singers is that he wants to incorporate signature dance moves in his show. “I want to be a showman like Ricky Martin and Michael Jackson,” he tells Billboard

In 2018, he made some big musical collaborations, leading him to debut on digital platforms and reach millions of views. "Luz Apaga" with Ozuna, Lunay and Lyanno reached more than 74 million views on YouTube, and "Todo Remix" with Lyanno, Alex Rose, Cazzu and Lenny Tavárez currently has more than 495 million views.
