AC/DC's "Black Ice" (Columbia) trumped Kaiser Chiefs' "Off With Their Heads" (B Unique/Polydor/Universal) to seize the No. 1 crown on the new U.K. album chart yesterday (Oct. 26). AC/DC has not led the British album chart for 28 years, since its classic "Back In Black" spent its first two weeks at No. 1 in August 1980.
Take That's comeback album, "Beautiful World" (Polydor), sailed past the triple IFPI Platinum Europe sales mark in the second quarter, having shifted more than three million units across Europe.
With three nods each, rock acts Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Muse and the Killers are the frontrunners for the annual Q Awards, to be held Oct. 8 at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
