After a Billboard chart career that dates back to 1996, country singer Gary Allan is on course for his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry sources suggest that his new release, "Set You Free," may sell around 80,000 to 90,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Jan. 27.
For Akron, Ohio-based rock duo the Black Keys, getting a video for their song "Set You Free" into medium rotation on MTV was a big deal. The little-known group's new Fat Possum album, "Thickfreakness," has sold more than 10,000 copies in the U.S. in its first two months in stores, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and the Keys are about to finish a run of dates opening for Beck.
