Tiffany Alvord, an unsigned singer/songwriter of YouTube fame, has finally earned a place in the mainstream spotlight. Alvord is slated to appear on the Nivea stage in New York City’s Times Square during New Year’s Eve along with Carly Rae Jepsen, Train, PSY and Taylor Swift as the winner of Nivea’s “This Kiss” video competition.
Carly Rae Jepsen celebrated the release of Kiss last Thursday with family and industry friends at her West Hollywood release party, where celebrities such as Cody Simpson and James Van Der Beek mingled with Scooter Braun, manager Jonathan Simkin, Interscope's Carl Ryan and Atlantic's Kelly McWilliam, among others.
Following the "Glee" cast's cover of Imagine Dragons' "It's Time" on the Fox series' fourth season premiere (Sept. 13), the original version gains by 62% to 64,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and enters the Hot 100's top 40 for the first time in its 15 weeks on the chart. And As Lil Wayne debuts as a guest (with 2 Chainz) on Juicy J's "Bandz a Make Her Dance," the Hot 100's top debut at No. 71 (arriving with 39,000 sold), Lil Wayne ties Elvis Presley for the most Hot 100 appearances among men: 108.
