Los Lonely Boys To Join 'Brotherhood' Tour

Comments

With a new album due July 1, Los Lonely Boys are looking forward to this summer's Brotherhood Tour with kindred spirits Los Lobos. The 20-show jaunt begins July 18 in Portland, Ore. and winds up Aug. 14 at the Central Park Summerstage in New York.

Bassist JoJo Garza tells Billboard.com that the tour "is like a freakin' dream come true, man, like (working with) Santana... and Willie Nelson."

Garza says the Texas sibling trio -- with brothers Henry on guitar and Ringo on drums -- were not familiar with Los Lobos growing up but became familiar with the East Los Angeles group via the soundtrack for the 1987 film "La Bamba."

"We were like, 'Who's singing these songs?,' " Garza recalls. "Then we started finding out what they do and everything. To actually be out there together, man, and doing it with them is an honor for us. It's very big to us. I know it's gonna be a good time."

Los Lonely Boys' rash of dates prior to the Brotherhood Tour include one on Sunday (April 20) at the Green Apple Festival in Dallas. The trio will also be on the road in June and earlier July playing a pair of shows in California with Sheryl Crow, the Jazz and Blues Fest on June 22 in Aspen, Colo., a pair of Texas dates with Willie Nelson and two homecoming performances in Austin -- a July 3 instore at Waterloo Records and at the Blues on the Green Festival on July 9 in Zilker Park.

"Forgiven," Los Lonely Boys' fourth Epic album, was produced by Steve Jordan and recorded in Austin. It features guest appearances by Dr. John and Del Castillo guitarist Mark Del Castillo.
