Hot Tours: André Rieu, George Strait, Taylor Swift

Submitted by admin on Thu, 2010-04-29 11:55

Dutch violinist André Rieu [1] tops the latest Hot Tours ranking with a heavily back-dated reported gross from 53 European concerts dating from November through February. The shows, primarily in France and Germany, were part of the classical artist¹s third 2009 trek through European venues. The grosses from this leg of his 30th Anniversary world Tour bring the total ticket revenue to $121.5 million since its launch in November 2008. Rieu will return to North America this summer with a new tour called Celebration of Music. Dates are already booked in June as well as November and December.

George Strait lands on the Hot Tours list in the No. 2 position based on $11 million in ticket sales reported by concert promoter Varnell Enterprises, based in Nashville. Among the eight shows reported, Tulsa¹s BOK Center produced the top gross ($1.5 million) and attendance figures for a Feb. 20 performance. More than 18,000 fans filled the arena to see the country music legend along with superstar Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack.

Award-winning country star Taylor Swift [2] returns to the Hot Tours chart at No. 3 with totals from nine more performances on her Fearless Tour. All reported shows were sellouts including two performances at Staples Center in Los Angeles (April 15-16) with a two-night attendance total of 27,518.

The Hot Tours ranking includes the first reported totals from the Los Tres Tour that features Latin superstars Joan Sebastian [3], Alejandro Fernández and Marco Antonio Solís [4] in their first co-headlining effort. The tour kicked-off on April 9 at Anaheim¹s Honda Center grossing over $2.3 million in ticket sales over a two-night stint. Adding an April 11 performance in the San Diego market (Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista), the tour's grosses amount to just over $3 million, placing it at No. 5 on our ranking.
