Insane Clown Posse is ready for another non-stop summer.
ICP is setting up for its 11th Gathering of the Juggalos festival, taking place Aug. 12-15 at Cave In Rock, Ill. And on Aug. 17, Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J hit the road again, this time to present special screenings of their second feature film, "Big Money Rustla$," which will be released on DVD the same day with commentary and bonus features.
"We're leaving straight from the Gathering and taking (the film) out on tour, which will be cool," Shaggy (real name Joe Utsler) says. "We're not sure exactly how it's going down just yet, the structure of it...I don't think we'll personally perform but I'm sure we'll have somebody from Psychopathic there for an after-party or something. That's still coming together now."
During down time they've been working with other acts on their self-run, Fontana-distributed Psychopathic Records label, including the new Boondox album "South of Hell" and upcoming releases by Blaze Ya Dead Homie and Twiztid.
Still reveling in its best chart showing ever -- No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top Independent Albums charts for last September's "Bang! Pow! Boom!" -- Insane Clown Posse isn't even thinking about its next album yet, according to Shaggy.
"We're riding this boy," Shaggy tells Billboard.com. "('Bang! Pow! Boom!') is still alive and vibrant. We haven't kicked around ideas for the new record yet. We're still gonna do one more tour off 'Bang! Pow! Boom!' Once we get into recording mode, that's what we do -- no road, nothing." But he and partner Violent J (aka Joe Bruce) were excited to put out the expanded "Nuclear Edition" of "Bang! Pow! Boom!" last month, a two-disc set that features unreleased tracks and videos.
"Like any artist, you've got extra stuff you want to be heard," Shaggy explains. "Plus it prolongs the life of the record, maybe get out to another audience that hasn't heard your shit before...You put a little bit of extra shit on there that perhaps might put it over a little bit more."
