Train's "Drops of Jupiter" Ignites Sheen Spat
Train 's hit single "Drops of Jupiter" was the alleged cause of the ugly Christmas Day fight between actor Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller, according to Us Magazine. Sheen reportedly told police that he and his daughter shared an affinity for the song, which made Mueller lash out, "You have a song [that] you share with your daughter, but not one with me?" and eventually caused the spat. Train singer Patrick Monahan responded to the news on Twitter, "I'm pretty sure that Drops of Jupiter is a positive part of Charlie Sheen and his daughter's relationship. Mary J. Blige Sets Home Shopping Record
Home Shopping Network (HSN) announced that its exclusive launch of Mary J. Blige 's My Life fragrance shattered records for fragrance sales at the retail channel. Target Market News reports that, upon its July 31 debut, My Life sold 60,000 units in six hours of air time. Sales of the fragrance helped support Foundation of the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), a non-profit organization co-created by Blige. (Target Market News )
M.I.A. Jeopardizes Payment For Big Chill Fest
M.I.A. 's raucous set at England's Big Chill Festival on Saturday (Aug. 7), in which the singer caused security problems by inviting fans to join her on stage, could end up costing the singer her performance fee. "The organizers don't have to pay her anything if they feel she endangered people," a source told the Daily Star about the performance, which injured at least two security personnel. M.I.A. later apologized for having to cut her set short due to the onslaught of fans. (Daily Star )
Arcade Fire Hits U.K. In December
Arcade Fire  have announced new dates in the U.K. for December, including a stop at London's O2 Arena on Dec. 1. Following successful stints at Madison Square Garden and Lollapalooza, the band will head overseas and play select European shows in the fall. (Pitchfork )
Pennywise Attacks Band on Warped Tour
Two members of punk-rock group Pennywise reportedly physically attacked members of rockers Alesana and tore apart the band's bus on Sunday (Aug. 8) following the bands' performances at the Warped Tour stop in Denver. Alesana frontman Shawn Milke told AltPress that his group was "attacked blindly by two very drunk members of Pennywise… had it not been for the Denver police showing up and restraining our assailants, the night could have been tragic." Pennywise, whose final stop on the Warped Tour was in Denver, did not injure any members of Alesana. (AltPress )
Thalia Deluxe Edition Coming In September
Sony Music Latin is planning to release a deluxe edition of "Thalia En Primera Fila," the live recording by Mexican pop star Thalia , on Sept. 28. The deluxe CD/DVD edition, the label's only deluxe release between now and the end of the year, will include three new tracks in the CD and a never-released documentary in the DVD.
