On the eve of the release of his highly-anticipated "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" album, due Nov. 22, Kanye West and members of his G.O.O.D. Music family took to his Ustream channel today (Nov. 4) to chat with his fans about the set.
"Everything I do, I try to make it the best… I'm going to make the best hip-hop album of all time possible, write the best verses, have the best performances, the best gear, the best shoes," Kanye said about his efforts to make this album exceptional. "What I appreciate about the past year is that it was so challenging. I feel like a new artist. I feel I deliver better products because of that up-hill challenge I had."
'Ye, who was joined by Cyhi Da Prince, Big Sean and Pusha T, said the album took one-year-and-half to make and was recorded in different countries with "legends" like Pete Rock and RZA and MCs like Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj . Others on the album include Pusha T, Cyhi Da Prince, Big Sean, Rihanna , Elton John and Fergie .
About recording with RZA, Kanye specifically said "RZA came down not just to put beats out there, but to give me jewels or piece of info, like, you know ODB is his cousin and there are so many similarities to me. Navigating through politics of being a superstar and maintaining that but also being authentic and emotional - it's a hard thing to juggle."
As far as the Jay-Z collaborative album, "Watch The Throne," goes, Kanye said he worked on Q-Tip and Madlib on it and confirmed it's "in the works." Kanye also said he plans on going on tour next year, although he didn't share any more details other than he might stop by Napa Valley when he's on the road.
After announcing the album can be pre-orderd on iTunes and showing off the multiple album covers, Kanye said his favorite song on the album is "Blame Game" with John Legend . He also said that all the songs that have leaked have changed drastically for the official album. "I won't give away what I did different, but when you hear it you'll feel the surprises," he said, adding that the hackers that leaked the music were "hurting fans more than anything. But, regardless, songs are different and incredible."
