Jay-Z Debuts Glossy New Website to Celebrate His Greatest Hits
Jay-Z  recently unveiled a new website as a promotional push for his upcoming greatest hits album, "The Hits Collection," which hits retailers Nov. 22. The Flash-based site opens with scenic black and white photos of New York landmarks before hitting the landing page. Each section of Jay's new website chronicles different periods of his career, from the early days to his corporate prowess developed over the past few years. (Mashable )
Billy Ray Cyrus Walks Out of Radio Interview
Billy Ray Cyrus  walked out of a radio interview with Nashville's WCOL Tuesday (Nov. 9) when DJ Woody Johnson brought up the subject of the singer and father of Disney star Miley Cyrus ' impending divorce. After the question was asked, Daddy Cyrus said, "God Bless the troops and God Bless America," and then walked out of the studio. In an audio clip obtained by TMZ, Cyrus can be heard lashing out at the DJ saying he was "very rude" and "should be disgusted" for asking such a personal question. (TMZ )
Fergie Dispels Solo Album Rumors, Focuses on 'The Beginning'
Despite her recent solo collaboration with Guns N' Roses  guitarist Slash, the Black Eyed Peas  singer and Billboard's Woman of the Year Fergie reported on Nov. 8 in NYC that she has no plans for a solo album anytime soon. While she proved in 2006 that she could dominate the airwaves alone after the release of her solo album "The Dutchess," the singer claims that she has enough on her plate with the forthcoming Black Eyed Peas album, "The Beginning," as well as her own shoe line. But Fergie also doesn't want fans to worry -- she assures that there will be another album before her career is up. (MTV )
50 Cent Being Sued For Movie Idea
50 Cent  is being accused of stealing the idea for his directorial debut, "Before I Self-Destruct." Shadrach Winstead has claimed that the rapper took the idea for "Self-Destruct" from his book, "The Preacher's Son - But the Streets Turned Me Into a Gangster." 50 Cent also stars in the film, which chronicles the story of a street basketball star coming to terms with the reality that he'll never make it to the NBA when his mother is shot and killed in a gang turf war. Distraught with grief, 50 falls in too deep with the wrong crowd and must find a way out of the gang lifestyle to create a better life for himself and his little brother. (The Boombox )
Damon Albarn Creates New Gorillaz Album on iPad, Hopes to Release By Christmas
Gorillaz  frontman Damon Albarn recently stated in an interview that he's been working on an album via his iPad, and that he hopes to release the record before Christmas 2010. "I hope I'll be making the first record on an iPad," Albarn said. "I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I've made a completely different kind of record." This news comes shortly after the Gorillaz lent their fictional member Murdoc to Bill Gates and Microsoft to help promote the advantages and features of the new Internet Explorer 9. (NME )
Metallica to Record New Album Next Year
More than three years since the metal kings have started writing new material, the members of Metallica  are gearing up to start writing their follow up to the multi-platinum "Death Magnetic" early next year. "Right now we are going to just chill out and then probably start up again in, I'd say, March or April," drummer Lars Ulrich said in a recent interview with Pulse of Radio. Lars also hinted at another tour with the Big 4 Four -- Metallica, Anthrax , Slayer  and Megadeth  -- which has steadily become a major priority for the band. "You know on your iPhone, you can move the weather maps up and down? Well, the 'Big Four' is quickly moving up to the top in terms of potential occurrences for the next couple of years," Ulrich added. (Consequence of Sound )
