News on Paul McCartney, LFO, Gatlin Brothers
Image Entertainment will release "Paul McCartney: Live at the Cavern Club" on DVD and videocassette on June 19. Taped Dec. 14, 1999, the show features the former Beatle backed by a band that includes Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, playing early rock'n'roll classics by Little Richard and Elvis Presley, as well as tracks from McCartney's "Run Devil Run" album. The Beatles played 280 gigs at London's Cavern Club, the last in 1961.
Pop trio LFO will release its sophomore album, "Life Is Good," June 26 on J Records. The set will be preceded by first single "Every Other Time," due to hit North American radio stations May 29. "Life Is Good" also includes guest appearances by De La Soul, Kelis, and M.O.P.; a video for "Every Other Time" will be shot by director Marcus Raboy (Carlos Santana, Olivia) in Los Angeles this weekend.
The 13-track album is the follow-up to LFO's 1999's self-titled Arista debut, which debuted at No. 21 on The Billboard 200 and featured the top-10 hits "Summer Girls" (No. 3) and "Girl on TV" (No. 10).
Veteran country artist Larry Gatlin is planning an annual performance reunion with his brothers Steve and Rudy with a holiday show in Branson, Mo. A 25-show run of "The Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers Reunion Show" is scheduled to open on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22) at the city's MGH Performing Arts Center (formerly the Glen Campbell Theatre). A 61-date 2002 run is already scheduled; tickets for both are available at the theatre's box office and various local outlets.
"We guarantee the audiences will be treated to a great new Gatlin Brothers show, filled with traditional holiday songs, our hits, and a few surprises," Larry Gatlin said in announcing the reunion.
A successful singer/songwriter, Larry Gatlin is currently starring in the touring company of the Broadway musical "The Civil War." As of late, Steve Gatlin has been starring in several self-produced productions in Myrtle Beach, S.C., while Rudy Gatlin has concentrated on his public speaking career.
