Frank Sinatra Jr. will bring his famous dad's songs back to the Las Vegas Strip next month in a show called "Sinatra Sings Sinatra." The show, which will run May 8-15 at the MGM Grand hotel/casino, will feature songs that the elder Sinatra popularized during his more than four decades on Las Vegas stages, including "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "Luck Be a Lady." The production will include a 36-piece orchestra.

"Since my father's death four years ago, a lot of people have made it clear that they're not ready to give up the music," the 58-year-old performer said. "For me, it's a big fat gift. I get to sing with a big orchestra and get to sing orchestrations that will never be old."

In 1996, the younger Sinatra released a well-received album of his father's songs, "As I Remember It," on Angel Records. His father had originally discouraged his son's interest in a musical career, but Frank Jr. persisted and began singing with Tommy Dorsey's band in 1963. He later served as his father's musical director and conducted his orchestra.

"When I was a boy, my father would often bring me to Las Vegas," he said. "I saw all the top stars perform, and late at night there would always be a name band playing in a lounge. I remember listening to Harry James, Count Basie, and many others. It was quite an education."

Frank Sinatra died of a heart attack at age 82 in 1998.
