Los Angeles-based rock trio Tonic has completed recording its third album with famed producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi) at his Maui, Hawaii studio. The sessions wrapped last month and the band is currently mixing the upcoming, yet-to-be titled follow up to 1999's "Sugar" in Los Angeles. The set is due Sept. 24 from Universal.
"A single should be out before the end of the summer," reports the group -- Emerson Hart, Jeff Russo, and Dan Lavery -- in a post on its official Web site . As previously reported , the group will play select second stage dates on the upcoming Jeep World Outside festival, which also features Sheryl Crow and Train.
"Sugar" featured the single "You Wanted More," which reached No. 3 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and No. 10 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks tally. The group's 1997 debut, "Lemon Parade," has sold 1.3 million copies in the U.S. to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
