Third Eye Blind is launching a 20-date tour of small venues to preview its forthcoming album, "Out of the Vein," due May 13 from Elektra. Beginning April 7 in Toledo, Ohio, the band will hit venues that hold between 600 and 2,000 people in the month leading up to the album's release. To further the hype, the band will be selling all tickets to the shows via online auction site eBay.
Tickets for the Ohio show were posted on the site yesterday (March 25). Auctions are currently slated to last about two days, but fans will also have the option of bypassing the auction and paying $20 for the tickets. Various auctions will allow fans to purchase tickets in packages or individually, with pricing starting at $1.
"Music sounds different when everyone is bumping into each other," frontman Stephan Jenkins said in a statement. "It's messy and it's exciting and that's how we're going to introduce this new album to people."
As previously reported AOL Music's First Listen service last week made available the Third Eye Blind cut "Blinded," from the forthcoming album. The set, originally titled "Crystal Baller," will feature collaborations with Andrew W.K. and the Moldy Peaches' Kimya Dawson.
Third Eye Blind's 1999 set "Blue" debuted at No. 40 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.25 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
